Dubai Court Annuls Marriage To ‘Bearded Lady’…

Oh, this one is a doozy boys and girls! “An Arab(ic) country’s ambassador to Dubai has had his marriage contract annulled after discovering the bride was cross-eyed and had facial hair. The woman had worn an Islamic veil, known as the niqab, on the few occasions the couple had met. The envoy, who has not been identified, told a Sharia court her mother had tricked him by showing him pictures of the bride’s sister, Gulf News reported. He only discovered the deception when he lifted the woman’s veil to kiss her. The court had annulled the marriage contract but rejected a $130,000 (£83,000) compensation claim for gifts he had bought his intended, the report said.”

There have been times my friends when yours truly was boozed out of his mind, woke up in some hotel bed in the morning, looked to the side and screamed, internally, “Oh my God! What the f***! Who the hell is that? And what the f*** was I thinking?”. But I always had a solid reason, a valid get-out-of-jail card! I blamed it on alcohol. But who or what is this schmuck going to blame though? The bride? Absolutely NOT! She’s not to blame! What? Did you expect her to lean over and whisper sweetly and lovingly in his ear, “Incidentally, sweetheart, and in case it matters to you, I am as ugly as a hat full of a**holes, I see twos everywhere I look and I’ve got a goatee some guys would kill for”? Get real! Would he blame the mother? He could, I guess. But she’s a mother! What else do you expect her to do? What she did is wrong and deceitful, but all she wanted is for her daughter to be like all other girls; get married, be happy, have kids… This man has himself to blame my friends. The standard practice, as I understand it, is to get his own female relatives or other females he knows and trusts (friends, colleagues, neighbors …) to visit the prospective bride; they give her the once-over on his behalf, then report back to him. Well, the poor schmuck didn’t, now did he? You fail to do so and you risk being publicly embarrassed, being emotionally scarred for life, being the butt of jokes till the day you die, not to mention making it out of this nightmare $130,000 lighter. I guess the old “Caveat Emptor” or “Buyer Beware” applies to perfection here…
